I\'ve been passing mucus before my bowel movements, occasionally followed by either red streaks of blood or a couple of drops of blood in the toilet bowl. I know that hemorrhoids and fissures can cause bright red blood, but can they also be the cause for passing excess mucus? If red blood was my only symptom, I wouldn\'t be this worries.

I\'ve got an appointment at the specialist later this month. Also, I\'m 19 years old. Any tips on how I could control the bleeding would also help.
