coffee and anal itching?

I started drinking coffee a few months ago, and i noticed that i started having extreme itching after a bowel movement. I went to the docs and he suspected possible hemorrhoids and gave me a prescription for hemorrhoidal cream. The cream didn\'t work and the itching continued. I was up to drinking sometimes 2 large cup of coffee a day. Anyways, about 3 weeks ago i decided to give up coffee and i notice that the itching has stopped. I don\'t have any more itching/burning after bowel movements once i stopped drinking coffee. Can coffee cause this? may i be allergic?
