Good news! Nots allow to miss!
Augusta State carded a 7-over 295 Sunday in the opening round of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational hosted by Central Florida and Texas Tech at Isleworth Country Club.
Playing in their third event of the fall season, the Jaguars are part of a four-team logjam in sixth place. Of the 15 teams in the field, 11 are ranked in the top 44 in the nation in Golfstat’s latest ratings.
Seniors Taylor Floyd and Brendan Gillins, along with freshman Robin Petersson, registered rounds of 1-over 73 and are tied for 17th place. Senior Devin Komline signed for a 4-over 76 and is 46th, while junior Derek Chang had the day’s non-counting score (79) and is tied for 62nd. ASU was playing alongside Central Florida and Ohio State.
The Jags, who combined to shoot even-par on the back nine, are knotted with Florida, LSU and Oklahoma State, just two shots out of fifth and four strokes back of third. Top-ranked Texas got a course-record, 7-under 65 from heralded freshman Jordan Spieth and fired a 10-under 278.
No. 11 North Florida is nine shot back after a 1-under 287, followed by No. 5 Alabama and third-ranked Stanford, who share third. No. 10 California is alone in fifth, two shots in front of the Jags.
ASU will be paired with LSU and Oklahoma State in Monday’s second round. Chang is first off the No. 1 tee for the Jags at 8:00 a.m., followed by Komline at 8:10, Petersson at 8:20 and Gillins at 8:30 with Floyd anchoring the lineup at 8:40.
The Isleworth Collegiate Invitational cheap golf clubs was created in 2004 to give collegiate players and coaches the feel of a PGA Tour event. The tournament provides collegiate golfers the opportunity to compete on one of the toughest courses in the nation against the best players in the game.
